In the last few years energy performance has become the key component of any commercial lighting solution for my company Sky Electrical whether it be design or installation. Electricity costs are on a one way street going upwards, and they are fast becoming one of the most significant costs any company faces.
A new lighting installation has to be designed correctly to ensure that the space is illuminated correctly to the precise level required. It’s no longer an option just to guess what to install in any installation as has been the case with many electrical contracting companies. The use of “Relux “software technology allows us to predict and chose which light source that will do the job efficiently without wasting energy. It also ensures a company’s Carbon foot Print is kept as low as possible.
Encouraging our customers not to choose the cheapest light fitting has been difficult in one of the longest recessions the UK has ever faced in modern times. As keen as we are to promote environmental solutions to commercial lighting, the bottom line has been the driving force in many purchasing decisions. However providing in depth ROI (return on investment) figures on alternative lighting solutions, Sky Electrical has persuaded many company executives to change their view.
LED and high frequency fluorescent commercial light fittings burn much less energy than older technologies. It’s not difficult to prove after one or two years that the money saved in energy costs, far out ways the higher initial purchasing investment. The money saved usually does not factor maintenance costs as often these new technologies do not need anywhere near the amount of maintenance older technologies need so there is the added bonus of significant maintenance costs. LED and high frequency fluorescent lamps life cycles are enormous particularly so with LED lighting installations so you will not be calling out a maintenance team to repair the lights for many years.
