Daylight Regulation Lighting Controls from Dextra

Dextra Lighting Gains Top Marks in Primary School Refurbishment

An extensive refurbishment to Stoborough Primary School has been made through use of Dextra Lighting products. Pupils and staff can now benefit from the large-scale refurbishment and new multi-classroom extension at the back of the school building. Dextra designed the school lighting through collaboration with an architect and presented a more efficient design, after emphasising the benefits of both T5 lighting and LED lighting for use within the project.
Staff, pupils and visitors are given an even warmer welcome, thanks to the use of coloured halo attachments from the Pro Tec LED range in the entrance lobby. Whilst providing a brighter entrance space and toilet facilities, the product also delivers maximum efficiency. Dextra Lighting have used a combination of T5 lighting and LED lighting sources to produce the best education lighting solution for the voluntary aided school.
Founded in 1872, the school has placed Dextra Lighting products top of the class, with excellent feedback from delighted governors and school staff.
Product Overview
The school’s refurbishment was created with the following products:MODLED Surface Luminaire
Combined with a DALI lighting control system, the MODLED Surface luminaire has been utilised with daylight dimming and absence detection in the classrooms of the existing school building. The MODLED surface luminaire was also used alongside skylights in the school’s library.
This versatile product can be used for a number of different settings including office lighting, receptions, corridors and within the commercial lighting sector.
A wide range of outputs and aesthetics is offered by the design of the MODLED surface, including an optional halo effect available in a variety of colours. Constructed with perforated steel side panels on most variants, alongside a screw retained extruded aluminium optic frame, MODLED boasts a host of benefits including a performance light output ratio of up to 85%.
Omni T5 Suspended
Incorporating the latest in T5 lighting technology, the Omni range offers a slimline alternative for office environment lighting solutions. The product can be used in a number of settings including offices, schools, universities and for commercial lighting purposes.
This bi-directional product is combined with DSI control, daylight dimming and absence detection in the classroom extension, making the most of the abundance of skylights and windows whilst also maximising efficiency.
LG7 guidelines can be assisted through lighting design and the suspension of the Omni in a bi-directional format.
The Omni’s standard width and octagonal cross section allows for both single and twin lamp options and makes the product adaptable to fulfil a range of lighting situations.
Pro Tec LED
The Pro Tec LED range is suitable for a host of environments which includes educational establishments, retail, receptions offices and airports. The product is constructed with zinc plated spring steel fixing clips and boasts polycarbonate colour accessories.
With a light output ratio of up to 90%, once installed, the versatile product boats many benefits and can be updated according to changes in décor and layout, as reflectors and colour attachments can be removed and replaced with ease.

Caerphilly & RCT Councils are going LED

Two Welsh councils are the latest in a line of customers that have put their faith in Dextra Lighting to reduce their energy spend this year through the
introduction of LED lighting systems.

Caerphilly Council has made use of Dextra’s experience in the care home sector and had a number of its care homes upgraded with interior LED lighting. Highfield Court, Woodland View and
Oakland’s have all had the

Dextra AMD L15R25C fitting installed which has created impressive energy savings in all three properties. Dextra Lighting has already had excellent
feedback from the residents of Highfield Court in particular who are happy with the control of the new fittings, which is done individually by the
microwave sensors.

Lighting levels have been hugely improved by simply specifying a point for point replacement. Dextra is expected to fit more care homes in the area in the
coming months. In addition to this, a number of schools in the region are also paying an interest in the Dextra school lighting range, with one, Newbridge Comprehensive School
already working with Dextra to have new MODLED panel lighting
fitted within their main hall with more excellent feedback, this time, from the Head Teacher via Maintenance Manager, Byron Burnett.

Rhondda Cynon Taff Council are looking for a commercial LED lighting
solution using LED ceiling lighting and have
shown interest in Dextra’s MODLED fittings. These are currently being installed in a four-storey government office in Pontypridd. In addition to this, the
council has also specified the same LED panel lighting for Darren Park School which is to be the first all- LED lighting school in the borough. Both these projects are fully
controlled with daylight sensors.

Dextra is currently promoting this success to its other council customers within the area such as Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff Council, who say Salix Funding
has proved the major factor in helping them invest in new recessed LED lighting
projects in the region.

LED lighting energy savings for Gold Corner Pumping Station

This is yet another impressive LED office lighting industrial LED lighting project that Dextra Lighting are proud to be associated with.
The energy efficient lighting solution installed at the Gold Corner Pumping Station, which sits on the Huntspill River in Somerset, has not only saved the client in excess of £2,000 per annum in reduced energy usage, it has created a much more effective LED office lighting and industrial LED lighting solution, with increased lux levels across all areas of the site.
Throughout the pumping station you will find Dextra Lighting’s high performing Hydra LED luminaires, which being fully rated to IP65 are suitable for both internal industrial LED lighting and exterior LED lighting applications. The Hydra LED is one of a number of LED ceiling lighting products that utilise the latest LED LINE cards from Philips. The highly efficient LED LINE card allows Dextra Lighting to offer this luminaire in a wide range of lumen outputs with light output ratios in excess of 80% combined with a 50,000 hour lifetime and 5 year warranty.
Within the offices Dextra Lighting have introduced yet another energy efficient LED lighting solution, the Graduate LED. A functional LED office lighting solution, the GRD LED has introduced increased lux levels for a much improved working environment when compared with the 2x70W T8 battens which previously lit the entire site. The GRD LED has been modelled upon the success of its fluorescent equivalent but offers the added benefits of excellent energy efficiency and a 50,000 hour lifetime. Manufactured using Philips LED cards and driver, this new internal LED lighting solution has been designed to incorporate an optional integral microwave sensor offering presence detection and brightout control, further increasing its credentials as an energy efficient lighting alternative. The Graduate LED is ideal for retrofit applications, allowing sensor control without the cost associated with modifying external wiring.
Tony Daw from The Environment Agency, the public body responsible for managing the Gold Corner Pumping Station, is so pleased with this internal LED lighting solution that he has requested Dextra Lighting supply an exterior LED lighting scheme to cover all external areas of the site. Dextra Lighting’s range of exterior LED lighting and LED flood lighting products will hopefully be seen lighting the outside of the Gold Corner Pumping Station very soon.
