Leading British fan manufacturer Vent-Axia is delighted to be supporting Noise Action Week (20-24 May 2013) by offering a solution to noisy extract fans with its innovative Silent Fan. Holding the Noise Abatement Society’s Quiet Mark 2013, the Silent Fan recently featured in the Quiet Mark’s Quiet House at the Ideal Home Show (15th March – 1st April 2013, London’s Earls Court). Operating at just 16dB(A) the Silent Fan is the quietest ever intermittent bathroom and toilet fan – a significant 75% quieter than typical intermittent bathroom fans.

A survey commissioned by Vent-Axia showed that over 40% of people said that they or their children have been woken in the night by a noisy bathroom fan. This noise can lead to households turning off their extract fans. But with condensation remaining a major problem in many homes turning off a bathroom fan can result in damage to the fabric of the properties, mould growth and poor air quality, which can cause health issues.
Although many who live and sleep along busy roads all over the UK learn to live with and filter out ambient noise from their locality, it is often the sudden sound from a noisy extract fan in the bathroom or toilet that wakes them at night or simply prevents them from relaxing. The survey also showed that 55% of respondents found a noisy extract fan the most annoying sound that could be heard in the bathroom, overtaking screaming children or draughts whistling through badly fitting windows.
