SkillELECTRIC Apprentice Electrician Competition Open for Entries

The SkillELECTRIC 2014 competition has started its search for the UK’s best apprentice electrician. During the competition entrants will be judged on a series of challenging practical tests in a bid to be named this year’s SkillELECTRIC national champion.
The event has been designed to promote and showcase high standards and skills across the electrical industry. Between April and June there will be a number of regional events across the UK. Those who score most highly will progress to a UK final held in November at the prestigious Skills Show at the Birmingham NEC, the UK’s largest skills and careers show with over 80,000 visitors.
Competitors may also have the chance to represent their country and compete at international level at future WorldSkills events.
The Joint Industry Board (JIB) is the lead sponsor of the event and is encouraging talented apprentices to take part. “The JIB is committed to raising standards in our industry and our support of SkillELECTRIC is helping to do this,” said David Thomas, ECS strategic development manager at the JIB. “Skills competitions bring out the best in learners, employers and colleges and the industry benefits from high levels of quality and workmanship as a result.”
