If you were disappointed when your Christmas stocking didn’t contain the iPad you’d been hoping for, don’t despair because portable test equipment expert Megger may be able to help. Everyone who purchases one of the company’s innovative and versatile MFT1700 series multifunction installation testers between 25th December 2012 and 1st March 2013 is eligible for entry into the Megger “I want one” draw, and the lucky winner will receive a brand new Apple iPad.
To enter the draw, all purchasers need to do is register their new instrument with Megger, and provide dated proof of purchase. Full details, together with the terms and conditions for the draw can be found at www.megger.com/competition.
From the entry-level MFT1710 to the top-of-the-range MFT1730, all models of multifunction tester in the MFT1700 series combine ease of use with safety and versatility, and all qualify their purchasers for entry into the “I want one” draw. All models provide the facilities needed for testing low-voltage electrical installations in line with the 17th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, and the high-end models offer valuable additional functionality.
The MFT1710 offers insulation testing at 250 V and 500 V, 200 mA continuity testing, and RCD testing for 100 mA, 300 mA and 500 mA RCDs, as well as three and two-wire loop testing with non-trip and high-current options. In addition, this keenly priced instrument has provision for measuring voltage, frequency and, when used with a suitable probe, temperature.
The MFT1720 provides all of the functions and features of the MFT1710, but adds insulation testing at 1 kV, continuity testing option at 15 mA, an extended range of RCD tests including automatic, 3-phase and variable RCD testing,. The MFT1720 also has a phase rotation feature, and facilities for indirect current measurement, using the optional iClamp.
At the top of the range is the MFT1730, which has similar measurement capabilities to the MFT1720, but also adds provision for internal storage of up to 1,000 test results. A facility for downloading the results via a Bluetooth wireless link is provided and, when used in conjunction with Megger’s PowerSuite software, this allows rapid error-free preparation of test reports and certificates.
By adding an optional earth stake kit, the MFT1730 also supports earth electrode resistance testing, and it is powered by rechargeable batteries that can be recharged without removing them from the instrument.
