Following the success of last year’s competition which saw hundreds of tradesmen get involved, trade retailer Screwfix is kicking off its second search to find Britain’s Top Tradesman.
Last year’s competition saw builder Andy Hunneybel from Essex take home the title due to his integrity, customer service, and true grit in getting his business back on track after several set-backs.
And this year the tradesman who demonstrates the skill, customer service and true grit to be named as Britain’s finest will be awarded a van of their choice, manufactured by Ford worth up to £27,000 on the road. John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, said: “Britain’s Top Tradesman is all about celebrating the finest that Britain has to offer – with exceptional skills in their craft and a commitment to professionalism.
“Last year, we witnessed first-hand the passion Britain’s tradesmen have for their craft and were continually impressed by the lengths that some workers went to in the name of customer service.
“But we know there’s more top tradesmen out there and hope to hear more of the exceptional stories from sites across the country, so Screwfix can truly recognise and reward the lengths that tradesmen go to all in a day’s work.”
Andy Hunneybel, inaugural winner of Britain’s Top Tradesman, said: “Since winning the competition, I have work booked months in advance, often directly off the back of coverage from last year’s Britain’s Top Tradesman or from customer referrals. Some customers are even happy to wait for a start date!“It goes without saying that the van was a huge boost to my business and got me back on track financially just when I needed it most, but it’s also great that Screwfix gave tradesmen like me the chance to prove our worth. I’m incredibly proud of my business and even prouder to have been 2010’s Britain’s Top Tradesman.”
