Firstly the team at My Local Electrician would like to wish all readers, advertisers and electricians a very Happy New Year!
Whilst the Christmas festivities were under way, we were busy beavering away ready for an exciting fresh look for the new year....and here it is!
As you can see, we have redesigned the magazine with a fresh new look – we hope you'll agree with us that the layout is more professional and easier to navigate.
Whats New?
We have watched My Local Electrician grow in popularity over the past 3 years and want to reward the people who return to the site on a regular basis and add comments and their own blogs to the site, so we have introduced a points scoring system called Userpoints, where points are accumulated for posting anything on the site. Of course the more you contribute, the higher the reward! As a guide we will award 20 points for a blog and 5 points for a comment. A bonus feature of Userpoints is that you will automatically receive an extra 5 points each time you log in. This is a daily setting so unfortunately you won't be able to keep logging in and out again to gain points – sorry about that! A prize will be awarded from My Local Electrician or another relevant sponsor every 3 months to the person with the highest number of points. After the winner has been chosen all points will be reset to zero and the competition begins again! Click on Userpoints on the main menu to find out more.
We also have enhanced features all designed to make your life easier and to help you to keep up to date with developments in the electrical industry as they happen. We now have a slide show featuring all the latest news from within the electrical industry to enable you to get up to date quickly and click straight through to what interests you. There is also a live feed from Twitter so feel free to follow our very active Twitter account for live updates.
It is now easier to select which content you would like to read. Each article published on My Local Electrician is labelled and categorized in the same format – its far more user friendly and clear on where you need or want to be – we have cut out the waste and kept the good stuff.
You will also find an increase in unique articles written by our team here at My Local Electrician – we will sniff out the latest news and hot topics and bring them directly to My local Electrician giving our own take on them.
Our advertisers have not missed out either – they now benefit from far better exposure and are grouped together to maximise display time. This has been carefully thought out to ensure each advert is noticeable and well positioned on My Local Electrician. Our advertisers are industry professionals and are carefully chosen to reflect the aim and values of My Local Electrician.
