The high standard of NAPIT's electrical registration schemes have been recognised with UKAS accreditation.
This prestigious award by UKAS, the UK's national body responsible for accrediting organisations who approve systems, products and personnel, means that NAPIT is now able to certify electrical installers working to BS7671 under the IET's Electrotechnical Assessment Specification for installation work in all building types.
News of the success was welcomed by David Cowburn, Managing Director of NAPIT Certification, who said: "This is a fantastic recognition of the high standards and professionalism that NAPIT sets in the sector." The accreditation - which covers work in dwellings, including Part P, and other premises and industrial locations - covers both NAPIT's Competent Person Scheme and the registration of electrical contractors in the commercial and industrial sector.
Mr Cowburn, who said that NAPIT was already accredited for microgeneration installations, added that this latest approval demonstrated that membership of NAPIT's scheme would assure consumers and other customers of compliant and competent work.
The accreditation, against the internationally recognised standard EN45011, sees NAPIT as the first Certification Body to be accredited as fully meeting the IET Electrotechnical Assessment Specification as well as BS7671 and Part P.
