MyLocalElectrician have found some really interesting information about VPhase's new energy saving product available to householders and small businesses in the UK. VPhase’s Smart new technology allows homeowners to save money and energy.
The Vphase is a brand new low cost technology that has been launched which can give householders immediate and significant savings on their electricity bills and a reduction in carbon emissions, without any change to their lifestyle, or spending too much in the process!
The VPhase unit has been developed by VPhase plc, part of Energetix Group, in conjunction with Liverpool University. It uses voltage optimisation technology which simply manages incoming voltage into the home and keeps it at a constant lower level saving you money. Although voltage optimisation has been available to commercial users for some years, this is the first time that this technology is available to homeowners and small businesses.
The power distribution network has traditionally operated at 240Volts but is often higher. Data collected by VPhase currently shows an average across the UK of 247Volts. However, many electrical appliances will work more efficiently and use less electricity at a much lower voltage, normally 220Volts.
MyLocalElectrician understand that if every household in the UK used voltage optimisation to reduce electricity consumption, a typical home could save carbon emissions of 270kg every year, the equivalent of taking 2.3 million cars off the road.
VPhase can also save energy on a wide range of appliances across your whole home from a single unit that is easily fitted next to your fuse box by a qualified electrician. Once installed it requires no maintenance. It’s simply a matter of fit, forget and save money instantly.
According to the VPhase website, www.vphase.com The unique VPhase product optimises the incoming voltage to a constant 220Volts giving householders
immediate and significant energy savings for the whole home with a single VPhase fitted to the consumer unit.
TYPICAL ENERGY SAVINGS ACCORDING TO VPHASE
• 17% reduction on electricity consumption on fridges and freezers
• 15% saving on lighting, even new energy saving light bulbs save 10%
• 15% saving on central heating pumps
• Further savings on numerous other electrical appliances across the whole house
The VPhase unit is fitted next to a fuse box / consumer unit and operates on socket outlets and lighting circuits. The amount of energy saved will vary depending on the incoming voltage and type of appliances in the house. The unit is designed and manufactured within the UK and must be installed by a qualified / competent electrician. The cost of the unit is £299 including delivery. Over the next few days I will be carrying out some more in depth research about the product from an electricians point of view, I.E. would I need to supply as minor works certificate or an installation certificate for the Vphase product etc and also from the householders point of view. I will update this article as I find out more.
It would also be great to get some feedback from those who have had the VPhase installed or from electricians who have installed the product.
