I have found that Electricians with approved electrical qualifications could find that their expertise is needed to help with the new zero carbon scheme proposed today, 25th November 2009, by housing minister John Healey.
He moved on to say "We're determined to see a cut in Britain's carbon emissions but to do that we have to design and build to new green standards in the future."
Also the Mayor of London Boris Johnson recently revealed that trials had begun on a scheme that could see eco-friendly upgrades made to thousands of homes in the capital free of charge.
The minister John Healey has also announced that the UK will be the first in the world to make zero carbon homes a legal requirement from 2016. The plan is for new homes to have better insulated walls, windows, ceilings and floors and for offices, shops, hotels and warehouses to be "built differently" from 2019.
He went onto say: "But communities and towns are made up of more than just homes, so today I have launched proposals for all new public sector buildings to be zero carbon from 2018 and all new commercial buildings from 2019."
I am a great believer in Energy saving and using new technologies to make peoples homes safer places and cheaper to run. My only hope is that if and when these new regulations are introduced in 2016 it doesn’t cost us electricians anymore with even more costly update courses as when they introduced Part P, 17th Edition regulations etc etc…
