Back in October, Trade Skills 4U published a blog called ‘A Message from Our Director’ announcing that there will be changes made to the existing Domestic Installer Qualification scheduled for the new year; January 2012. The IET originally announced these changes in a press release published July 2011 stating that these changes were originally supposed to come in 1st January 2012 however as this target date is fast fading, the training specialist have announced an update on the new qualification to make sure that the people it affects are kept up to date.
According to their newest blog ‘important: Domestic Installer Qualification Delayed,’ Trade Skills 4U have confirmed just that – the new qualification has been delayed. Electrical certification body, NICEIC, have reported that they will keep ‘business as usual’ by continuing to accept previous registrations requirements which is great news for those looking to register under the current regulations to be a competent domestic installer, can still do so.
How does this affect you?
Well, if you heard the previous announcement have been rushing to get in before the scheme requirements change, get ready to breathe a sigh of relief. You now have some extra time to complete the qualifications and your assessed installations.
If you were contemplating training but have been delaying it; act now as this really is an opportunity not to be missed. When the new qualification comes in its likely to be longer and therefore be subject price increases so from a training perspective – it might be a good idea to start your training before these changes come in.
It’s safe to say that everyone in the electrical industry has been looking forward to changes like this for a while now as a qualification like this, if done correctly, will no doubt lead to safer, better practices for all.
As part of their dedication to their customers, Trade Skills 4U have also stated that they will continue to release updates and announcements on this as they hear them aswell as any other industry related news that could affect their customers.
