TrustMark, the only Government endorsed register for trades people has reported a sharp rise in use of its register, an online database of over 21,000 registered tradespeople.
Following extreme weather conditions at the beginning of 2014, householders have waited for the weather to improve before considering having their properties repaired. This has resulted in TrustMark seeing searches for all trades increase by 79% in the first 4 months of 2014 when compared to the same period in 2013. The figures indicate that searches for a TrustMark registered trades person has doubled so far in 2014.
Electricians amongst most sought after trades
It is not just the stormy start to 2014 that has resulted in home repair and renovation however. The improving economy has also contributed to the raise in demand for professional trades people found through TrustMark. Electricians are amongst the most sought after trades which TrustMark states have seen sharp rises in the number of searches carried out this year. According to TrustMark, searches for electricians have risen by 52% compared to the figures of one year ago.
Growing awareness of using only qualified and registered electricians
The search figures are encouraging not only for TrustMark but is great news for the construction industry as a whole as awareness of finding both qualified and registered trades people is growing. Householders are now exercising more caution as to who they let work on their properties thanks to media publicity of the dangers of using unqualified tradespeople to carry out work by organisations such as TrustMark.
Stuart Carter, Head of PR & Marketing at TrustMark, said: ‘With many properties still being repaired after the devastating floods, more and more home owners are realising the importance of using quality and reputable firms to help protect their most valuable asset, their home. TrustMark is here to help provide consumers with choice, confidence and protection and to signpost them to reputable local firms and expert tradespeople working to Government endorsed standards.”
Householders increasingly turning to the TrustMark register
There are many advantages to using the TrustMark register when comparing it to using other registers to find electricians.
TrustMark is Government Endorsed
TrustMark is operated under license from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and as such, makes a commitment to Government that the Trades people on the register work to Government approved standards. This includes offering insurance backed warranties and deposit protection as well as the operation of a straight forward complaints procedure.
Independently assessed trades people
All trades people registered with TrustMark have been independently assessed for competence using thorough on site assessments that ensure a high standard of workmanship and safe working practice. TrustMark is the only scheme of it's kind that require independent assessment procedures that also assess customer satisfaction and business management.
A Not-for-profit organisation
TrustMark is not a commercial website and as such does not make money from it's users. Furthermore it does not offer services such as 'pay per lead' nor advertising. Trades people on the register have been assessed for technical competence and only then are they permitted to be included in the register subject to an annual fee.
The TrustMark register is fast becoming a register to find the UK's most trusted trades people.
