If like me you're an electrician that is relocating to another area, then there's usually many different things to consider.
I'm an electrician located in Essex and offer a variety of services in the electrical industry and have become quite popular in my local area, have plenty of work and a nice house - but what happens when you want to relocate to another part of the country? Depending on your circumstances, you can take your business with you wherever you go, especially if you're self-employed.
At the moment i'm in the process of relocating to Bournemouth which is a good two hours drive from where i'm currently living - do my dismay there's actually a lot more to consider when relocating with your business as i've found out over the past month or so. I've wanted to move for quite some time now for a variety of reasons, those mainly being wanting a bigger house, to live by the sea and in general have a better quality of life - sadly where i live now it's not exactly the most desirable area in the country.
As i've come to learn over the past few weeks, moving is a real pain, especially when you're effectively taking your business with you, but there's always light at the end of the tunnel. I'm in the process of setting up my electrician Bournemouth website to garner new business when i eventually move in to the new house. I currently have a website based around the Essex area, so it's not going to be of much use when i live 2 hours away - being a local electrician, i obviously offer my services locally.
When making a website for a new area you've got to think about having it ranked in Google, too. If nobody is finding the website, where are these visitors going to miraculously come from? That's right, from searchers using Google - that or recommendations and other advertising means.
Yet another thing to think about when moving is the electrician rates in the area your moving to, no two places will have the same pricing structure. For example here in Essex local electricians charge an average of £60.00 per hour (though it's safe to say i charge nowhere near this figure) yet in Bournemouth the average is closer to the £40.00 mark - it's crazy the price differences from a mere 2 hours drive away.
So if anyone reading this is in the same boat as me, i'd strongly suggest taking a long hard think about some of the points mentioned above - you don't want to be caught out and put in a position you would never want to otherwise be in.
