Sometimes consumers are left in the dark as to how they can save on their electricity consumption, so here are three quick tips to help you cut your electricity bill and be more environmentally friendly.
1. Turn your electric water heater down
If your properly uses an electric water heater or an electric shower then you should use it wisely. By turning down the temperature by a few degrees you can save a lot of money each year on your bills. An eco-friendly temperature for your hot water should be around 40c.
2. Make sure appliances aren't on standby
Having appliances set on standby actually uses up quite a lot of electricity. The best thing to do - especially with TVs, DVD players and set-top digi boxes - is to just turn them off at the wall. By turning off all your appliances from standby you could save up to £28 per year.
3. Look at the rating
All electrical home appliances are labeled with an energy efficiency rating. These are guides for you to roughly tell how expensive an electrical appliance will cost to run. Standard ratings run from the least efficient G rating, to super efficient A ratings.
Appliances like fridges and freezers will have additional ratings such as A+ and A++. An A++ fridge-freezer will cost just under £16 a year to run, making it a super-efficient choice.
