With news of the double dip recession and figures confirming Britain’s longest economic slump, Chloe Bennett from Trade Skills 4U reveals that help can be on hand for those who need it most during these difficult times.
It’s fair to say that everyone has bad days, however what would you do if every day was a bad day? Who would you call upon if times were so difficult that just having food in the fridge was a luxury? Sometimes you don’t just have to ‘get out of the wrong side of bed’ to have one of these days and it’s important that you know who to turn to when things start getting from bad to worse.
For workers in the electrical and electronic industry, let me introduce you to The Electrical and Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA). The EEIBA is the first and only charity to help those in ‘hardship or distress who work, or have worked in the electrical and electronics industry.’
In stressful times, such as Recession when times can be all the more difficult, it’s important for everyone to locate and rely on a support system such as the EEIBA and for companies like ourselves to help promote them so they can carry on supporting those in need.
Who are the EEIBA?
The EEIBA was founded over one hundred years ago and continues to offer a range of help and support to anyone who has worked in the electrical sector and the electronics industry.
In order to fund the great work that they do the charity has a variety of income streams with their main focus on holding large regional and national events which run throughout the year. The powerBall event, the company’s largest annual event fundraiser is being held this year in London on the 9th November 2012. http://www.eeiba.org/index.php/london-powerball-2012. Other events include Golf Days, Boxing events and Seasonal balls. The Southern Spring ball is being held in Brighton at the DeVere Grand Hotel this evening at 6.30pm.
How do they help?
Thanks to the support of their sponsors and their revenue generated charity events, the EEIBA focus their efforts into helping those who are in need of a listening ear, some support & financial assistance.
The charity offers help and assistance to all age groups, from the youngest child to the oldest pensioner, anywhere in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Their support is also extended to dependents of those who have worked in these sectors. By providing grants or loans for anything from adaptions in the home to assistance with household bills, their aim is to make a difference to your life for the better.
An example of their work comes from a tragic case study on their website that involves a gentleman called David* who contacted the EEIBA when his 13 year old daughter lost a battle with cancer. To ease some of his unthinkable pain, the EEIBA helped relieve some of their financial worries by providing assistance with the families’ bills. During this time David’s youngest child was diagnosed with a brain tumour due to the extensity of their treatment both David and his wife have been unable to work as their time is taken up with hospital visits and caring for their young family. To date the EEIBA has been delighted to provide the family with all the financial support they need during this difficult time.
*Names have been changed to protect privacy.
Over the last 100 years, the charity has assisted people from all backgrounds and age groups from all over the United Kingdom and would like to hear from you, should you need their assistance.
