One year ago James Dewane launched a never seen before 'electricians blueprint' which was designed to help self employed electricians find and keep more customers. Using a marketing resource known as “My Electricians ToolBox”, electricians use a tried and tested 5 step system to market their own business. James has developed his Five Steps into a teaching Framework that he calls the S.P.A.R.K.s Blueprint to Marketing for Local electricians.
Marketing for Electricians
Run by James himself and incorporating members only webinars and course material that members work through as well as an excellent support group of other electricians, “My Electricians ToolBox” is proving to be a helpful resource for electricians at all stages of their career – from newly qualified to experienced. As James says “Like many of you, I started out as an apprentice; learning the craft of my trade – but not the skills to market myself and my company.”
Looking to the future
One year on and with a string of satisfied electricians under his wing, James is proud to have made his first list of lifetime members. We decided to catch up with 2 of his lifetime members to find out their experiences of “My Electricians ToolBox” and what a difference it has made to their business.
Charles Wisdom – Electrical Experts
Charles has been a member of “My Electricians ToolBox” since it was first launched. He originally joined to find a way of staying ahead of the competition in his area and wanted to find ways of doing so. He has recently become a lifetime member after deploying James' strategies with success and finds the support from James invaluable and motivating therefore making a huge difference to the way he does business.
We caught up with Charles and asked him a few questions about the highs and lows of being a member.
Charles, what has been your biggest success to date?
I guess your talking about biggest/best sales due to implementing James' methods. If so that would have to be a rewire last year for 2.5k and the responses that we have received since advertising in some magazines.
Give a reason why an electrician should join?
Well as long as they're not within a 30 mile radius of me then there's really nothing to lose. I guess if you only did a couple of things that James advises then you would at least get your money back. But if you were to implement the whole system (and I'm aware we have more to come and learn from) then the dream of being able to 'select' who you work for, rather than putting up with what customers you've got and the real possibility of taking on staff and all the other good/bad things that come with growth have a serious chance of becoming a reality.
Charles has been an electrician since 2000 and has some words of advice for electricians who are thinking of joining “My Electricians ToolBox”:
Please be aware that anyone buying into James' programme that the real hard work is yet to come. Being a 'spark' is child’s play compared to the getting a constant stream of good work in through marketing, however James makes this task a little less daunting and confusing.
Carl Firmstone – Stator Electrical Solutions Ltd
Carl has also been a member of “My Electricians ToolBox” since the launch last year. He runs a small electrical contracting company in the Midlands that carries out both domestic and commercial work.
Carl came on board after following a series of free webinars and felt there was more a lot more good information to come from being a full member. He feels that “My Electricians ToolBox” has given him a lot of help to get his business going in the right direction and as a result has increased his volume of work.
Carl has been so pleased with the results and the value for money he was getting that he was one of the first people to sign up for life membership.
We also asked Carl for his opinion of “My Electricians ToolBox”.
Carl, what has been your biggest success to date?
Leafleting has brought in regular, small jobs but targeting the right areas, although difficult has been quite successful.
Give a reason why an electrician should join?
Many tried and tested methods of bringing in more work of the type you want are explained. Marketing methods which most electricians might have tried and failed at previously are explained and you feel empowered to trust the theory and push forwards.
Carl has been an electrician for 18 years and looks forward to developing his marketing even further this year. He is looking forward to the upcoming live events and group meet ups that are planned for members of “My Electricians ToolBox” later on this year.
